Board certified in both dermatology and internal medicine, Dr. Joshua Wieder served as chief resident in dermatology at the University of Chicago Hospitals, Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, where he completed his residency in dermatology. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences in Ithaca, N.Y., Dr. Wieder received his medical degree at SUNY- Upstate Medical University in New York and completed his internship, residency and served as chief resident in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Cornell University Medical College.During his internal medicine residency, Dr. Wieder found himself fascinated by problems involving the skin and decided to switch his area of specialization to dermatology. “Whenever I examined a patient, I was particularly interested in anything that had to do with the skin . I knew I had to pursue that.” Dr. Wieder’s internal medicine training provides him a broader base for medical diagnosis in dermatology.
Dr. Wieder has a private dermatology practice at 12301 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 201. He also served as an Associate Clinical Professor at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles until 2023, volunteering his time to teach residents and medical students for 30 years. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including American Academy of Dermatology – Fellow; American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery; American Society for Dermatologic Surgery – Fellow; American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Wieder has served on several boards and committees within these and other medical organizations.
Dr. Wieder is co-author of The Treatment in Dermatology, a companion volume to Differential Diagnosis in Dermatology, published by Radcliffe Medical Press Ltd. His articles have appeared in numerous publications including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
Dr. Wieder has been consulted by and quoted in many major publications and periodicals, including the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, USA Today, Allure, Ladies Home Journal, InStyle, Redbook and many other leading magazines.
He has been interviewed on television about dermatology related subjects for ABC Eyewitness News, CBS Evening News, KTLA – Ch. 5 Evening News and other television news related programming.
